James B. Edge, Jr., MBA, CPA-ABV, Founding Partner
Mr. Edge is the founder and president of Cornerstone Financial Management, Inc. and has been actively involved in financial and investment activities for over twenty-five years. He has extensive experience in managing companies on an interim basis and has been involved in the acquisition and disposition of several companies. Through Cornerstone Mr. Edge performs valuations for company split-ups, mergers, estate and gift tax purposes, partner admissions, and family planning purposes. He has qualified as an expert witness in Virginia.
Mr. Edge’s professional background encompasses careers in the banking, real estate, and accounting fields. He earned a Bachelors of Science degree from Hampden-Sydney College and a Master in Business Administration from Rutgers University. He also holds a Virginia real estate broker’s license and earned the CCIM designation (Certified Commercial-Investment Member) awarded by the National Association of Realtors.
While an officer with United Virginia Bank (now SunTrust) and then with Peat Marwick (now KPMG), he began and completed the three-year Stonier Graduate School of Banking program. Mr. Edge has been awarded the Accredited in Business Valuation (ABV) designation by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
H. Gregory Waller, Ph.D., CVA, Managing Partner
Greg Waller’s areas of expertise are corporate finance and corporate valuation. He teaches courses and conducts research in a variety of fields including advanced valuation, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, corporate risk management and investment policy. He also has considerable industry experience, especially with small and family-owned businesses.
In addition to his work with Cornerstone, Dr. Waller is an Associate Professor of Finance at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. Before embarking on his academic career, he was an entrepreneur, owning and managing companies that specialized in real estate development, contracting and construction, and industrial sales. He has served as an outside consultant to numerous firms in the areas of corporate finance and strategy and has provided continuing legal education credit courses to the Virginia legal community on the topic of business valuation.
Dr. Waller earned his BA and MBA from Ohio University and his Ph.D. in finance, with minors in economics and strategic management, from Purdue University. He holds the Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) designation from the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts (NACVA) and has been qualified as an expert witness in both federal and state courts.
Sam Seeley, Marketing Associate
A native Virginian, Sam Seeley has been a communications consultant for over 25 years working with a variety of national, regional and local clients. She has served as an adjunct professor at VCU for 20 years, teaching communications and marketing courses most recently in the School of Business.
Additionally, she is an adjunct faculty member at the Anglo-American University in Prague where she has taught marketing and conducted Crisis Communications seminars. She was on the faculty of the VCU International Consultant Program for three years taking business students to Prague. Sam earned her bachelors from Furman University, a masters from University of Virginia and attained her Accredited Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America.
